20 years after the first watch sold, Van der Gang releases the precursor of this first model

20 years since the first Van der Gang watch was sold. Watch Ref.20002. Also known as the ”Original”. The development of this watch took about two years and the design and technology was based on the first development model Ref.20001. The prototype. This development model/prototype was never released, but the parts and dials were stored in our warehouse at the time.

During a recent clearance, we rediscovered the very first dials and parts of model Ref.20001. Although the existence of these parts was known and latent, the find came as a pleasant surprise. With today’s knowledge and science, we marvel at the beauty of this first watch.

A quirky design with also truly the look of a first design.

What makes the first watch so unique?

The prototype Ref.20001 features a dial manufactured differently from other watches. The numerals on the dial are not placed as separate appliques, but are manufactured under high pressure in one press run. In addition, this prototype has a matt satinised case and buttons.

Special feature
Van der Gang is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. In honour of this milestone, we thought of assembling 2 x 25 more watches from largely existing parts from back then from both versions that were developed back then. In doing so, we are reliving our origins. The Van der Gang Heritage Ref. 20001.
